2020年6月8日，中国海洋发展基金会秘书长潘新春一行三人来访厦门大学地球科学与技术学部（下称：地学部），与地学部主任戴民汉教授等就福建海洋可持续发展研究院（下称：研究院）与70.8海洋媒体实验室合作事宜进行了深入座谈。
座谈会上，研究院总协调人薛雄志教授首先介绍了研究院概况：研究院是由福建省海洋与渔业局、厦门市海洋发展局和厦门大学三方共建的省级科技平台，也作为筹建中的海洋科学与技术福建省创新实验室的先行先试单位。戴民汉教授认为，研究院要发挥其智库功能，首先要有“硬科学”的支撑，其次要准确把脉产业需求。潘新春秘书长肯定了海研院的成立对福建省乃至国家的重要意义，指出研究院要做好大力“引进来”、积极“走出去”的工作，并表态基金会将继续深化双方在海洋空间规划领域的务实合作。
随后，游伟伟教授介绍了70.8海洋媒体实验室发展现状。戴民汉教授指出，70.8海洋媒体实验室致力于科普推广、人才（文理融通）培养、促进产业转化等，具有重要的意义。潘新春教授表示，中国海洋发展基金会在海洋科普方面也做了不少工作，未来将积极与70.8海洋媒体实验室开展合作、相互支持，共同做好海洋科普工作。
会议最后，双方建立了对接工作组，为未来项目合作与持续推进海洋科普教育工作进行铺垫。
On June 8, 2020, China Oceanic Development Foundation (CODF) Secretary General Dr. Pan Xinchun and his two colleagues visited Faculty of Earth Science and Technology (FEST), Xiamen University. Prof. Dai Minhan, Director of FEST welcomed the group and held a meeting to discuss cooperation plans among CODF, Fujian Institute for Sustainable Oceans (FISO) and 70.8 Media Lab.
Prof. Xue Zhixue opened the meeting by giving an overview of FISO. Prof. Dai followed to comment that the success of FISO is dependent on the scientific research capability, and it is key that the research projects that FISO carries out should be tailored to serve the needs of ocean industry. Dr. Pan showed confidence in FISO’s prospects, saying that its work will be crucial to Fujian province as well as China. To fulfill FISO’s missions, he said, it should step up efforts in recruiting talents and to foster overseas partnerships. CODF looks forward to furthering its cooperation with FEST, he added.
Prof. You Weiwei introduced 70.8 Media Lab and its ongoing projects. The 70.8 Media Lab is dedicated to popularization of marine science, cross-disciplinary talent training, and promoting application of research to industry, Prof. Dai further elaborated. CODF had also carried out various projects for popularization of marine science, and Prof. Pan looked forward to more cooperation between two parties in the future.
Towards the end of the meeting, a working group was established for ease of future communication and cooperation on various fields.
